high protein cheddar scones
send this to a friend that you’re going to make these with!!
this new “flour” is my favorite things to experiment with these days - you can turn it into savory waffles, add it to meatballs, or make these amazing scones.
this recipe is super simple and made many from nutrient-dense animal foods!
here’s how I did it:
- 1 cup (120g) Carnivore Crisps chicken flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3 slices bacon, chopped
- 4-5 scallions, chopped
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1-2 tbsp water (optional, if you need to moisten the dough!)
In a bowl, use your hands to combine the chicken flour and salt.
Add in any additional ingredients you’re using and stir to combine.
Stir in your yogurt and mix until you have a dough that sticks together but isnt too wet. if you need to moisten the dough, add 1 tbsp of water or more until it all sticks together.
Transfer the dough to a sheet pan greased or lined with parchment paper and pat into a round disk about 3/4 inch thick. Slice into 8 pieces then separate each scone.
Bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
*the chicken flour is already quite salty, so don’t add any salt or use salted butter and choose your additions accordingly.
Are you going to try this?! What should we make with carnivore flour next?
